My constant battle: finding eyewear 🕶️ that keeps up 🏃‍♀️

My constant battle has always been finding eyewear that can keep up with my active lifestyle without being a constant source of frustration. As someone who enjoys everything from cycling to hiking, regular prescription glasses are simply impractical, and contact lenses often lead to dryness and irritation, especially outdoors. I needed something robust, comfortable, and specifically designed for sports, with my exact prescription. The idea of prescription sunglasses that could seamlessly transition from a morning run to driving caught my attention, promising to eliminate the need to juggle multiple pairs of glasses. I’ve often felt the exasperation Michael Connolly expressed, spending countless hours online trying to find and purchase the right pair, only to face technical hurdles or confusing processes. My core need was clear: functional, durable, prescription eyewear that could keep up with my active life without the fuss and wasted time.

My journey to finding the perfect sports eyewear began online, comparing countless options across various platforms. I ultimately landed on Cinily Eyewear due to their impressive selection of sports-specific designs and customization possibilities for prescription lenses. The virtual try-on for the TR90 Sports Myopia Sunglasses, specifically in the Tea-Tea color with my -4.0 myopia prescription, was surprisingly effective, giving me confidence in my choice. The ordering process itself was straightforward – I entered my prescription details, selected lens coatings, and completed the purchase in early 2025. While my own checkout was smooth, I later stumbled upon Michael Oakes's review, which detailed a significantly more frustrating experience. He wrote: "This place is nothing more than an automated business that cares nothing about its customers. They are a fraud, ripping customers off for services that they charge for and do NOT provide. I ordered twice from them before, without any need to return or exchange, so I never understood the negative reviews. The third time I ordered, their site said “eligible for next day delivery”. That would typically mean “next day”, right? So, I pay for the $19.95 next day delivery fee, pay for my glasses and hours later receive an email stating that “my order is in process and will take 3 business days”. Where is next day? Wait…it doesn’t stop there. I call their toll free line…automated…no human intervention. I try their “live chat”…automated bot. I email both their customer service and returns department asking for a refund of my $19.95 next day delivery fee since it’s clearly not meeting the requirements…crickets. I call their toll free number back and keep going through the menu and trying different options. I try the one that asks if I want to place an order…bingo, I get a human. So I propose my issue to that person and after several moments on hold I get told “I will submit your request to the billing department and it will be up to them”. Ummm, nope…you’re not providing a service that I paid for…refund my money. Agent wasn’t hearing that and ended the call. Horrible business. Horrible customer service. Everything is automated and forces you to interact with a live chat bot or an endless phone system that they hope you’ll just give up on from pure frustration. I will NEVER do business with this place again and will spread this review like the plague. Update 02-24-2025: Order placed 02-18, Label created 02-20 (not shipped as they stated), UPS in possession of package 02-21, Item in transit 02-22, Item delivered 02-24. Not “next day delivery” as their site clearly stated. Nothing to “produce” as the glasses had “Plano lenses” with no prescription so still not sure of the delay in “production”. Still would not recommend this company based on their lack of replies to 6 emails requesting help. Their sugar coated response is lack luster and a poor attempt to cover up their extremely lacking customer service. Purchase elsewhere and avoid the issues that so many are having with this company." Reading Michael’s detailed account, I felt a knot of anxiety, but fortunately, my standard delivery seemed to be progressing without such dramatic issues. His experience truly underscored the importance of transparent shipping promises and responsive customer service, areas where Cinily Eyewear, based on his account, clearly has significant room for improvement.

Upon receiving my TR90 Sports Myopia Sunglasses in late 2025, the initial impression was remarkably positive. The packaging was simple yet protective, a soft case and a cleaning cloth neatly tucked inside, ensuring the glasses arrived in pristine condition. Pulling them out, the Tea-Tea color was just as vibrant and appealing as it had appeared online, a rich, warm hue perfect for sunny days. The TR90 frame felt incredibly lightweight, almost imperceptible in my hand, yet robust enough to suggest durability. The silicone legs had a reassuringly grippy texture, promising a secure fit during activity. Slipping them on for the first time, they settled comfortably on my face, hugging my temples without any pinching or uncomfortable pressure points. I instantly understood what 'Plantbased Strength (kyle wheeler)' meant when he simply stated: "Glasses fit well. I can see clearly with them on. Would recommend." My own vision through the polarized lenses was crystal clear and sharp, a welcome relief and a testament to the accuracy of my prescription. It was an immediate sense of satisfaction and optimism for their performance.

The true test, of course, came with actual use, and I've worn my TR90 Sports Myopia Sunglasses extensively over the past few weeks in early 2025 – during morning runs, cycling trips, and even just driving. The clarity provided by the -4.0 prescription lenses is exceptional, and the polarization is a game-changer, cutting glare beautifully, whether from wet roads or shimmering water. Like 'Plantbased Strength (kyle wheeler)' affirmed, the vision is truly clear and sharp, making outdoor activities safer and more enjoyable. They stay put no matter how much I move or sweat, a huge relief compared to my old glasses that would constantly slip down my nose. The lightweight TR90 material means I often forget I'm even wearing them, which speaks volumes about their comfort and ergonomic design. It’s easy to see why April Tutt exclaimed, "My daughter loves her classes!!" – that immediate satisfaction with functionality is truly there. These sunglasses genuinely solve my problem of needing reliable, prescription-ready eye protection for an active lifestyle, allowing me to focus on my activity rather than my eyewear.

However, my satisfaction with the product itself is tempered by observations of the broader customer experience at Cinily Eyewear. Michael Oakes's harrowing account of non-existent 'next day delivery' and an automated customer service labyrinth underscores a significant area for improvement. He lamented, "I call their toll free line…automated…no human intervention. I try their “live chat”…automated bot. I email both their customer service and returns department asking for a refund…crickets." This raises serious questions about support accessibility and responsiveness. Furthermore, Steve Greenbaum’s vital point about Pupil Distance (PD) is critical. He shared: "We ordered a pair of glasses for our 12-year-old…he had trouble seeing with them. We went back to the doctor…he informed us that the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect…The glassesusa site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they will just assume a value of 62 (adult) or another value for kids." This fundamental oversight in the ordering process, if not addressed by Cinily Eyewear, could lead to incorrect lenses for many, highlighting a crucial gap that must be fixed to ensure customers receive accurate and usable prescription eyewear without frustrating exchanges.

Overall, my TR90 Sports Myopia Sunglasses are a fantastic piece of gear for my active lifestyle. The quality of the lenses and the comfort and durability of the frame truly exceeded my expectations for the price, making them a clear "物有所值" (value for money) purchase. For anyone seeking durable, comfortable, and highly functional prescription sunglasses for sports or outdoor activities, these are a strong contender that I would wholeheartedly recommend. However, my recommendation comes with a crucial caveat. While the product itself shines brightly, the overall customer service and ordering transparency, as vividly evidenced by critical reviews like Michael Oakes's and Steve Greenbaum's, indicate areas where Cinily Eyewear needs significant improvement. You might consider Cinily Eyewear for the product's quality, but proceed with awareness about potential customer support challenges and be extra diligent in providing all necessary prescription details like your PD upfront to ensure a smooth experience. If Cinily Eyewear can bring its service up to par with its excellent product quality, it would truly be a five-star experience from start to finish.
